Stroh

Stroh is about 11 miles east of LaGrange and five miles south of U.S. 20.

Its major claim to fame is its two renowned fish restaurants, Turkey Lake Tavern (technically in Elmira, though it’s only a stone’s throw from Stroh) and Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh. People have been known to drive from out-of-state for a taste of the famous fish, served all-you-can-eat in a simple setting.

The proximity of Big Turkey Lake provides fishing, camping and swimming opportunities throughout the summer.

Farmers State Bank has a branch office in Stroh.

Firefighting services are provided by the Stroh Volunteer Fire Department. Also, an ambulance is based at the fire station. Police protection is provided by the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department.

Stroh has a town park with a playground and a baseball diamond, and recently began holding an annual 4th of July celebration with a parade.

The property tax rate for Stroh residents is $2.2660 per $100 of assessed valuation.
