Parks

The following is a list of the major parks in LaGrange County:

LaGrange

David Rogers Park is on C.R. 550S and west of C.R. 200W, southwest of LaGrange.

Delt Church Park is on C.R. 200W, between C.R. 600S and C.R. 700S.
The LaGrange town park is located on Factory Street on LaGrange’s northwest side.

Wall Lake County Park is north of S.R. 120. on Wall Lake at C.R. 600N.

A public gazebo was erected on the lawn of the LaGrange County Courthouse in 1993. The gazebo is available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for a fee. Reservation procedures for the gazebo have been established by the LaGrange County commissioners.

Reservations may be made up to one year in advance. Fees are set at $30. Non-profit organizations will be charged $10. Payment is required at least 30 days prior to the reserved date. Reservations are made through the LaGrange County Department of Parks and Recreation, 114 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, 463-7825.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at the gazebo.

Shipshewana

Scott Mill Park is located on C.R. 550W and C.R. 700N, northwest of Shipshewana.

Wolfe Park is in downtown Shipshewana.

Topeka

Just as their names indicate, East Park is located on the east side of town and West Park is on the west side of town.

Wolcottville

Dallas Lake Park is located on C.R. 700S and C.R. 75W, northwest of Wolcottville.

Taylor Park is located on the south side of town on S.R. 9.
Wolcott Park is a natural area on S.R. 9 on the north side of town.
Field of Dreams, on the west side of town, was recently completed and it includes two baseball fields, and a playground.

Recreation

LaGrange

Maple Wood Nature Center is located 4 1/2 miles southeast of LaGrange on C.R. 100S. It features displays of plants and animals of the area. The nature preserve is open to the public for nature walks and other outdoor activities. Nature programs are scheduled throughout the year at the center.

The LaGrange Historical Society Museum is on Poplar Street.

Land of Lakes summer theater, Lakeland High School Auditorium.

Mongo

Pigeon River State Fish and Wildlife Area provides the county with a place for fishing, hunting and camping. It is an 11,500-acre site that includes three reservoirs and land along the Pigeon River. Trapping is allowed on a bid basis only. There are archery ranges, shooting range, field trials, boat and canoe rentals, nature trails and many other outdoor activities

Shipshewana

Shipshewana’s Flea Market is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays May-October to shoppers and tourists.

Shipshewana Beach is on the east side of Shipshewana Lake. It is open to the public and has picnic tables and a pavilion. Bathrooms and changing rooms are provided.

Wolcottville

Dallas Lake Park offers a public beach and good fishing area. The woods and surrounding marsh are excellent for birdwatching.

Atwood Beach is located on C.R. 700S on the north side of Atwood Lake and is open to the public.

Wall Lake

Edgewater Beach is located on the north side of Wall Lake. The beach is open to the public but no lifeguard is on duty.
